What does micro-trench sealing involve?

Micro-trench sealing applies a protective asphalt sealant over narrow utility cuts, preventing water intrusion and helping maintain pavement integrity after fiber or utility installation.

Why seal after micro-trenching?

Sealing protects both the new utility line and surrounding pavement from water damage, reducing the risk of potholes and early road deterioration.

How long does the sealing process take?

The duration of a sealing project is typically 1 to 2 days, depending on the size and scope of the neighborhood or area being serviced. It is crucial to note that we cannot begin the application until the utility contractor's filler material has fully cured. We generally commence the sealing process 7 days after the concrete or filler material is placed in the micro-trench to ensure maximum adhesion and durability of our sealant.

How long does it take for the material to dry?

The sealant material is dry enough to be driven over in a passing manner by a vehicle in 15–20 minutes. The material is applied at approximately 400 F, and once the temperature has dropped to ambient levels—usually just a few minutes, depending on weather conditions—it is safe for traffic. However, we strongly recommend that vehicles avoid parking directly on the sealed line for a full 24 hours to allow the material to achieve its complete and final cure.

Which sealant materials are used?

We use PolyFlex 3 from Crafco, a high-quality sealant specifically engineered for this application. This material aligns with Texas safety and infrastructure guidance and offers superior performance and safety compared to traditional tar-based products.
